Anna Bakk (Violin)

Violinist Anna Bakk graduated from St. Olaf College in 2010.  Since then, she has found many musical activities to keep her entertained (and employed!).  She enjoys teaching private violin lessons to 30+ students, helps lead worship, plays and sings in an Irish band, and is an avid freelance musician and coffee consumer.  Because of her relentless adventurous streak, Anna recently applied to a Norwegian reality television show.  She hopes to bring her violin over there and play in the fjords!

jbarnettJeremy Barnett (Scenic Designer)

Jeremy Barnett has designed scenery for theatre, opera and dance in Boston, New York, Detroit and the Twin Cities.  He has worked on productions at The Lyric Opera of Chicago, The New York Philharmonic, The Pasadena Playhouse, The Arena Stage Company and The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC.  Mr. Barnett’s designs were a part of the Harley-Davidson Open Road Tour and Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions Band Tour.  His work on Kingdom Undone is dedicated, in part, to his son Jacob.


Matt Berdahl (Actor)

Matt is a Theatre/ Film/ Commercial working actor based in Minneapolis, MN. Favorite Credits Include: Striking 12 (The Man Who’s Had Enough), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius), The Producers (Leo Bloom), Almost, Maine (Man 1), and Seussical: The Musical (Horton The Elephant). Dustin BronsonDustin Bronson (Actor)

Dustin, originally from California, he fell in love with Minneapolis while he was attending the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program. Dustin has had the opportunity to perform around the country. The theaters he has performed with in the Twin Cities include: Pillsbury House Theater, the Playwrights’ Center, the Illusion Theater, Minnesota Jewish Theater, and Park Square Theatre. Look for Dustin this April in the Minnesota Jewish Theaters production of Handle with Care.

Greg BunceGreg Bunce (Actor)

Greg is part of the Bunce Backyard Theater company along with his wife Lori and 2 kids, Sharayah and Trevor. They perform a full scale musical in their backyard each summer to as many as 650 people to raise money for charities. He has appeared in Into The Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, and Oliver.

Jay V Carlson is a senior Theater Major at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Jay has stage managed many productions at Northwestern College, some of his favorites include The Boys Next Door, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Side Show. He has also worked with Skylark Opera Company on Mme. Modiste, Wonderful Town, The Vagabond King, and On the Town.

ncousinsNathan Cousins (Actor)

Nathan is currently situated in Northeast Minneapolis with his lovely wife, Stephanie, with whom he is thrilled to share the stage in their 5th TFTT production together.  Nathan also serves as the Production Manager for the Northwestern College Theatre Program where he techs, manages and directs, as well as doing his fair share of on camera and creative work around the Twin Cities.  He’s a fan of playing drums, riding his scooter, and eating fish and chips at the Anchor.


Stephanie Cousins (Actor)

Stephanie is so thrilled to be a part of this year’s production of Kingdom Undone!  It’s a story she believes in and a cast she admires.  The past few years she has had the privilege of working with theater companies such as Gremlin Theater, Bloomington Civic Theatre, Theater for the Thirsty, Yellow Tree Theatre and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.  She currently makes her home with her husband, Nathan (Peter), in the Nordeast part of Minneapolis.  Go Vikes!

David, a Minneapolis native (truly), is well versed in all things percussion, from Fringe Fest shows (Someone else’s Clothes) to large format orchestral touring with drumKit (Jim Brickman’s “a Musical Tribute to the Carpenters”) to recent session work in Los Angeles. Other interests include freelance worship audio mixing and drumming, and a recent obsession with billiards. These endeavors are lovingly tolerated by his wife Pamela and newly adopted FoxHound rescue, Capone.

Joy DonleyJoy Donley (Producer, Assistant Director)

Joy Donley (Producer/Assistant Director) – For Theater for the Thirsty, Joy directed ‘Til Death: A Marriage Musical, and Amnesiac Jack.  She recently directed Shadowlands and An O. Henry Christmas for Open Window Theatre.  Joy is a freelance theatre director, adjunct faculty at Northwestern College and Concordia University, and recently became a teacher at Highland Park Senior High.  With Front Porch Theatre, she put up seven shows for the Minnesota Fringe. She’s married to KU’s musical director and they have two kids.

Christopher EricksonChristopher Erickson (musician)

Christopher played percussion in his first pit orchestra at the age of 13 for You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown in his hometown of New London, MN.  While progressing as a pianist and collecting various other instruments along the way, he discovered the bass guitar and has never been the same.  Since his move to the Twin Cities, he has played bass for productions of Into the Woods, Godspell, Children of Eden, and Curtains, among others. After graduating from Bethel University in May of 2011 he has settled down to make lovely music with his wife, Sarah, in St. Paul.

Jeremiah GambleJeremiah Gamble (Writer, Actor, Producer)

Jeremiah founded Theater for the Thirsty with wife, Vanessa. Together they portray over 100 different characters in their ten original shows–ranging from tone-deaf angels to cud-chewing cows. Jeremiah co-wrote the Minnesota Fringe hits, “The Cubicle,” and “Amnesiac Jack,” and has produced several small theater festivals in Minneapolis. He is a published children’s author, former member of an acapella band, father of 3, and all around creative noodler. 

Vanessa GambleVanessa Gamble (Actor, Writer)

Vanessa has been performing musicals of all sorts around the Midwest for a good chunk of her life. She’s worked with Children’s Theater Company, Theater Latté Da, History Theater, Nautilus Music-Theater, Illusion Theater, MN Musical Theater and others. Currently she’s touring the Ivey award winning production of I Am Anne Frank with Nautilus Music-Theater. She co-founded Theater for the Thirsty with her husband, Jeremiah. Oh—she also begat three amazing kids, Phoenicia, Eden and Obadiah. And speaking of….Marie–Thank. You.

Matt is the Artistic Director of Urban Samurai Productions based here in Minneapolis.  He has had the opportunity to work with nimbus, 20% Theater Company, and Chameleon Theater Circle as both an actor and director.  This is his first project with Theater for the Thirsty and is pleased as punch to be here.  He would like to thank everyone from the bottom of his heart for supporting theater in the Twin Cities.

Janet HansonJanet Hanson (Actor)

Janet is grateful for the opportunity to return to this show for a second year.  A transplant from Kentucky, she’s worked steadily in the Twin Cities theatre community since 1988.  Theatre credits include shows with Theater Latte Da, The History Theatre, Troupe America, Park Square Theatre, The Children’s Theatre Company, Actor’s Theatre of Minnesota, Classical Actors Ensemble, and the Minnesota Orchestra.  She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from The University of Louisville.

Eric HeimsothEric Heimsoth (Actor)

Eric Heimsoth is excited to be back at the Southern Theatre. He has previously performed at The Jungle Theater (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), The Children’s Theatre Company (500 Hats), Bloomington Civic Theatre (Into the Woods, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, My Fair Lady), and most recently finished productions with the Open Window Theatre (Around the World in 80 Days), and Minnetonka Theatre (Annie).

Nicholas has been performing all around the Twin Cities for ComedySportz, Urban Samurai, 20% Theatre Company, Bloomington Civic, Theatre in the Round and now is very happy to make his debut here at the Southern. When not acting, Nicholas is an avid gamer, poker player, and fencer. He makes his home in NE Minneapolis with his actor wife Colleen Somerville.

Daniel McLaughlin hales from Oronoco, MN where his love for creativity was grown on a steady diet of midwest countryside and Star Wars.  Recent work includes writing/directing Christmas on the Mason-Dixon Line at Northwestern College, a staged reading of Enemy Alien at MN Playwright’s Center, playing 18 characters in Open Window’s Around the World in 80 Days, a principal role in feature film Stay Then Go, and being husband to the lovely Mrs. McLaughlin.

Jeffrey MillerJeffrey S. Miller (Director)

As co-founder and artistic director of The Refreshment Committee of St. Paul, MN, Jeff oversaw the creation and development of new works, including GloriaHot Under The Collar and Forgiving Typhoid Mary.  For 17 years, he taught at Bethel University and was a writer/director for the live radio broadcast, Sunday Nite! on the Skylite Satellite Network before joining Lamb’s Players Theatre in San Diego, where he and his wife, Mary, worked for 6 years.  For Theater for the Thirsty, Jeff recently directed My Name Is Daniel.  Currently, he chairs the Theatre Arts Department of Gordon College, in Wenham, MA, occasionally sacrificially teaching and directing in their Orvieto, Italy, program.

Betsy MillsBetsy E. Mills (Choreographer)

Betsy E. Mills has a BFA in dance from the University of Minnesota, a wonderful husband that founded SPARK theater + dance with her, two beloved children with endless imaginations and a lifelong love of moving. Her movement has been seen at the Bryant Lake Bowl, Minnesota Fringe, MDT’s Strawberry Festival, Zenon’s Block E, Plymouth Middle School, Homeward Bound Theatre, Sanctuary Covenant Church, and taken by YWAM students to China.

Gail OttmarGail Ottmar (Actor)

Gail is thrilled to once again be part of this exciting and fulfilling project.  Most recently, she appeared in The Return of King Idomeneo: A Picnic Operetta with Mixed Precipitation.  She has also worked with other fine companies such as the History Theatre, Theater Latté Da, Troupe America, Illusion Theatre, Gremlin Theatre and many others throughout the area and country.  Gail is also a vocal coach and pianist and lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Mark Abel Garcia.  Happy Easter!

Bethany, a Milwaukee native, moved to Minnesota with her loving husband and puppy in August, 2011. She was blessed to make her debut in the twin cities as Saint Joan of Arc in “The Lark” at Theatre In The Round and is proud to have also enjoyed working with Walking Shadow Theatre Company. She is involved in several volunteer ministries at The Basilica of Saint Mary and is overjoyed to work with Theatre For The Thirsty!

Sarah is the Lighting Designer/Coordinator at Northwestern College in St. Paul. She has stage managed several shows with Front Porch Theatre for the MN Fringe Festival including Seussical: The Musical, and Nibblers: A Musical with Sharks. Sarah is excited to be a part of this production and to renew her passion for stage management.

Arnie RoosArnie Roos (Actor)

Arnie Roos rejoins Kingdom Undone after appearing as Mad Joe in Frontier Theater’s production of The Jesus Chair, at the 2012 MN Fringe Festival.  Arnie has appeared on Twin Cities and Minnesota regional stages since 1994, most notably in The Rivals at the Jungle, on tour in A Christmas Carol (Troupe America), The Harty Boys in The Case of the LImping Platypus (Comedy Suitcase), The Elephant Man (Paul Bunyan Playhouse), and many, many others.

Kurt SchweickhardtKurt Schweickhardt (Actor)

Kurt is excited to be returning to Kingdom Undone, and this beautiful  cast and crew.  He teaches Acting at Normandale Community College.  Recently he appeared in Yellow Tree Theatre’s production of Circle Mirror Transformation, playing James, an aging hippie (type  casting?).  In the past he has performed at the Guthrie, Jungle, History, Chanhassen, and Illusion theatres.  He has also acted in several films, most notably FARGO , and FACTOTUM.

psimmonsPeter Simmons (Actor)

Raised on the East Coast, Peter attended North Carolina School of the Arts, then moved to Minneapolis in 1981 to begin his career in theater.  He is a partner in the dinner theater, Mystery Café, where he has written, directed, and played dozens of rolls over the past 20 years. Peter has also been seen at such venues as Gremlin Theater, Frank Theater, BCT, Paul Bunyan Playhouse, Urban Samurai and Yellow Tree Theater.

Gina Smothers (Assistant Scenic Designer)

Gina is currently a senior at Oakland University majoring in Theatre Design & Technology. She has worked on many productions there including Women of Lockerbie, Much Ado About Nothing, Police Deaf Near Far, and Dead Man’s Cell Phone. Outside of Oakland, she has worked for Des Moines Metro Opera as a painting intern and as Assistant Scenic Designer for Next to Normal at Meadow Brook Theatre.

Karen began playing the violin at age four. Growing up in the St. Paul, MN area, she took private lessons through high school while participating in the Minnesota Youth Symphonies. Karen completed her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance in 2004 after studying with Maurice Sklar at Oral Roberts University. Two summers were spent at the Meadowmount School in upstate New York in the studios of Charles Avsharian and Skye Carman. Karen is a first violinist with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra.  She resides in Northeast Minneapolis.

Jon graduated from Northwestern College and is pursuing a Master’s in Music Education at Saint Thomas.  He’s performed throughout the U.S. and his 2011 international debut was in Paris; he is a prolific arranger and composer; and plays bass, drums, mandolin and the charango. He has recorded Grammy nominated artist (Bell’ Alma Duo) and the Atlantis Quartet’s “Lines in the Sand” (2011 City Pages best albums). Visit him at and

Jeff WoldGeoff Wold (Lighting Designer)

Geoff is a local designer, mask maker, and theater artist. He graduated from Bethel University with degrees in English Literature and Theater, and from the Dell’Arte School of Physical Theater in Blue Lake, California. Design credits include A Corner of the World, Tallgrass Gothic, Kid-Simple, Hunger and Jesus Hates Me (Emmigrant Theater), Awesome 80’s Prom (Hennepin Stages), Tony & Tina’s Wedding for Hey City Theater (Minneapolis and Portland), Southside Stories (Touchstone Theater, PA).

kwarderKelli Warder (Actor)

Kelli is a performer and freelance choreographer for a variety of theaters, schools and churches. She was last seen onstage in Aida, a co-production of Theater Latte Da and Hennepin Theatre Trust. Kelli has performed at Chanhassen Dinner Theaters, Ruby’s Cabaret and Bloomington Civic Theatre among others. She is the mother of two and the wife of a senior high pastor. Life is full.
